sample library for Kontakt Player

STONE is a collection of 16 instruments grouped together by texture and timbre, lovingly recorded and processed to eke out unique qualities. Aimed at film, media and theater composers, the tool-sets featured in Stone are immediate to use and experiment with

From ambient soundscapes to snarling rhythmical loops, Stone will certainly add flair and character to your underscore. I certainly do recommend both Stone and Glass and I am really looking forward to what Murst Instruments creates next” – Sample Library Review

Banks

Oscillate bank

Oscillate // is a collection of deep analogue basses sampled from vintage and modular synthesizers processed through a germanium fuzz

Pivot bank

Pivot // sustained Cello bow, unstructured Cello phrases, granular Cello and Organ fuzz. Recorded close mic for an intimate capture of the bow texture and body resonance

Fluctuate bank

Fluctuate // features hammer, mallets and plucked sounds processed on a Uher tape machine

Grain bank

Grain // completes the sonic layering with a quirky selection of noise/recorded samples for depth in your sound design

Demos

By layering these banks together you have a composer toolkit with rich sound sources that is immediate to use. Sculpting the sound further with the built in effects processing allows you to add character or create something experimental. Below is a playlist of examples of the full instrument, from composer Derek Kirkup

Effects

To complement the instrument banks there is a set of effects at the bottom half of the UI. The filter symbols also act as buttons which will reveal LFO parameters for modulation. The front panel effects controls left to right comprise of;

lo-pass cutoff

Lo-pass cutoff – filters out high frequencies. The button reveals resonance and controls for a multi shape LFO

hi-pass cutoff

Hi-pass cutoff – filters out the lower frequencies. The button reveals resonance and controls for a multi shape LFO

Saturate – with a nod to Tim Hecker, saturate at instrument level to bring out the harsher overtones, adding a warm distorted fuzz – watch the master volume!

Phase – inspired by leslie cabinets with an in-built rotating speaker, phase is a stereo effect that is bpm synced from your DAW

stereo

Stereo – a simple stereo modelling effect that can spread the stereo field of the instrument wider, or constrict to mono

room

Room – a natural sounding convolution reverb and it works especially well with the Pivot bank Cello instruments

Blur – a delay that sounds more like a reverb by taking microsecond particles and diffusing them into a reverb that stretches and spreads the sound into a wash

Features

Stone is Kontakt Player library, and will work on any mac or PC, but not iOS/pads. It runs best with an SSD hard drive for faster sample loading times. Stone uses a split keyboard to allow you to layer your sounds or play separate harmony/melody between the banks. Oscillate is laid out on the left hand side of the keyboard and is comprised of an octave and a half, highlighted in Red. Pivot is the central 2 octaves in Green. Fluctuate is the highest or right hand octave in Purple. Grain is mapped across the full range to allow the noise sources to be blended with any or all of the other banks. Native Access offers a very simple serial redeem and install process

Stone is a Kontakt Player library, the free version available from Native Instruments. It is encoded for NKS keyboards and devices. The manual can be found here for more information on how to install and activate your serial number. Please see our FAQ section and our terms and conditions for more information.
